Blood test results sound complicated at first glance — here, in brief, is what hematology and biochemistry panels actually show.
Hematology (Complete Blood Count)
A complete blood count shows the number and characteristics of red and white blood cells, along with hemoglobin and hematocrit values — parameters that, in essence, indicate whether there's anemia, infection or inflammation in the body.
Biochemistry Panel
A biochemistry panel measures values in blood serum or plasma that reflect the function of internal organs, such as the liver and kidneys, and helps determine whether those organs are working as they should.
Why It Matters That It's Done In-House
We run the complete blood count with an automated hematology analyzer, with results in a few minutes; biochemistry panels are run on blood serum, blood plasma, urine or cerebrospinal fluid. Since everything is done in-house, you typically get the results during the same visit, and we review them together with the clinical exam findings right away.
